On October 29, 2025, the APEC Summit hosted by South Korea officially opened in Gyeongju — the country's first APEC in twenty years — attracting nearly 2,000 participants, including about one thousand CEO-level executives from the 21 APEC economies. As a Diamond Sponsor of the summit, MEBO Group board members Kevin Xu and Li Li led a 20-member delegation to the opening ceremony.
South Korean President Lee Jae-myung said in his opening address that APEC is not only a platform for economic cooperation but a stage for shaping the future together, calling on members to jointly promote sustainable and inclusive growth amid supply-chain uncertainty and digital transformation.
Before the opening, the MEBO Group delegation attended the APEC 2025 CEO Summit welcome dinner at Hwarang Village Harmony Square in Gyeongju. With the theme 'Bridge, Business, Beyond', the dinner blended traditional Korean culture with modern technology, opening APEC Leaders' Week.
Prime Minister Kim Min-seok attended the dinner and spoke with Kevin Xu and Li Li. Kim noted that no single country can respond alone — only by building bridges between nations, business and academia, and civil society can we achieve closer connection, collaborative innovation, and shared prosperity. Xu agreed that the significance of the APEC platform goes far beyond trade and economics, lying at its core in connection and a sense of partnership. MEBO Group Vice President Liu Gang gave an exclusive interview to KBS on MEBO's three-year APEC strategy.
The evening featured cultural performances combining traditional music and dance with contemporary art. The summit is expected to bring approximately 7.4 trillion won in economic benefits, with Chairman Kevin Xu scheduled to deliver a keynote on October 30.
