On the morning of April 24, 2023, at Bay Area Council headquarters in San Francisco, Kevin Xu — Chairman of MEBO Group, Bay Area Council executive director, and Co-Chair of its International Committee — together with Bay Area Council CEO Jim Wunderman, met with Chilean Ambassador to the United States Juan Gabriel Valdés and his delegation, who visited for an APEC preparatory working session. Bay Area Council COO John Grubb and Sean Randolph, Senior Director of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute, also attended.
During the talks, Xu mentioned the Clinton Global Initiative 'Regenerative Wave' physician training program for Latin America that MEBO Group launched in 2019 — paused by the pandemic and only restarted last year. Ambassador Valdés showed deep interest and offered full support for bringing the program to Chile.
The delegation held a productive session of more than an hour with the Bay Area Council, reaching broad consensus between Chile and the Council — an APEC co-host — on Chile's participation in this year's APEC Summit in San Francisco.
